Emergency
Dial 144 in emergencies
Emergency services are responsible for acute medical emergencies. If something has happened, call the emergency services directly on 144. If possible, you can also go to the hospital’s acute outpatient department.
An example
Ingrid (52) from Fürstenfeld is sitting at breakfast with her daughter and grandson. Suddenly, Ingrid has difficulty speaking and develops a severe headache. Her daughter immediately calls the emergency services. The paramedics identify signs of a stroke. Now time is critical: an air ambulance is dispatched to take Ingrid to hospital for stroke care. In a unit specialising in strokes, known as a “stroke unit”, Ingrid receives comprehensive and rapid treatment.
